Trying to build a business on social media?

How’s that going for ya?

Love it?  Hate it?  Don’t understand how it is supposed to work?

Here are a few tips for you that I learned the hard way:

Tip #1 – Choose Your Social Media

Make sure you pick one social media platform to start.  Only One.  Research where your target audience is hanging out and start there:-)

Learn how that specific platform works in detail.  Each one is different and has different rules for posting.

Tip #2 – Create a Detailed Profile

Make sure to create a very detailed profile.  This is where your target audience will look (meet you) first.  They will be looking for things in your profile that resonate with them, pique their interest.  Remember you are branding yourself.  People work with people not businesses!

Tip #3 – Post Awesome Content!

It’s the very best way to win people over.  Giving them consistent quality content that engages them and provides value. That’s how you create a tribe of followers.  Make them want to check in with you and see what you are sharing next:-)

Tip #4 – Call to Action

If you want people to take action on what you have posted… tell them!  “Grab Your Free Report Here” or “Click Here To Learn More” or “Comment Below To Tell Me What You Think”.

Get the conversation going and then keep it going!  This is social 🙂  Have fun with this and change up your call to action based on your post.

Instagram marketing is hot…hot…hot right now!

If you are not using Instagram marketing for your business you are truly missing out.

Did you know that Instagram has more interactions than FaceBook?  Oh and by the way Instagram does not limit who can see your content.

Instagram has grown faster than any other social site to date.  There are 300 Million Instagrammers!  Promoting products is key to this visual social site.

Want to know what to do next?

Here are 4 tips to get you started with Instagram marketing:

1.  Make sure to use your real name when signing up for an Instagram account.  You want people to be able to easily find you and your business.

2.  Have a nice professional picture in your profile.  Remember this is where you will have your first connection with a potential follower and you want to make a good impression.

3.  Create a bio that shows what you are about.  I used a hashtag (#) in my bio so if people are searching for #NetworkMarketing they can easily find me 🙂  Now you only have 150 characters so get to the point fast.  You also want to create a Call To Action in your bio so people know what to do.

4.  Put the link in your bio that you want your ideal customer to visit.  I use a capture page here to build my list 🙂

What kind of strategies do I use when planning my social media marketing campaigns?

Here are some very basic rules of engagement for social media:

 

  1. Be yourself!  Remember this is a social site.  Get to know one another here.  Just meet and greet like being at one huge party!
  2. Have a nice picture of yourself or your brand and make sure to fully fill out the profile section for each social media channel you choose.  People want to know about you!
  3. Always lead with value.  If you are not providing any value to your audience then why would they respond?  Put yourself in your audience’s shoes, would you see any value in this post, if not then start over.
  4. The very best strategy of all is make sure you are sharing, liking or commenting on others content consistently and frequently.
  5. I like using the 80/20 rule where you post 80% value content and 20% business promotion.

 

One of the best ways for you to keep track of all the social media campaigns you have is to use a service called HootSuite.  It is a great place to monitor and stay engaged with all your social media campaigns in one place.  This service also helps you track your results so you can see what content is the most engaging in your specific channel for your social media campaign.
