A very hard lesson learned for many network marketers over the last month including yours truly…
Yes, it’s true. I received the dreaded letter from Google Adwords suspending my account.
We are writing to let you know that your Google AdWords account has been disabled due to one or more serious violations of our advertising policies related to Landing Page and Site Quality. As a result, your ads will no longer run through the Google AdWords system and we are unable to accept advertising from you in the future. Please note that future accounts you open will also be disabled.
I had been running the same Adwords campaigns for over a year with no issues. Then early on a cold December morning I lost 50% of my advertising. They just shut me down with no warning. What a hit!
Now I know I am no where near alone in this. From my understanding there have been hundreds of thousands of marketers that have been shut down and can NEVER advertise on Google Adwords again. Talk about harsh!
I had worked very hard for years and spent lots of money to learn Adwords and build campaigns that were pulling leads regularly at a fairly low cost. So now what???
Well, first I am grateful that I was not losing 100% of my advertising. Whew! I have been using many methods of advertising and learning new ways to advertise over the years. Some of the methods that I really enjoy have been article writing, social networking and solo ads.
As I am looking into my crystal ball for this next year I am checking out some really different methods for me. I have heard that CPA banners, SEO traffic are just a couple of the methods that we can use as alternative methods. And of course, there is also Yahoo/Bing to try. So nice of Google to give Yahoo/Bing market share -)
I believe that we are in a time where home businesses will continue to grow at a very steady rate. Our economy is pretty much in the gutter and there are so many folks out of work and have lost their retirement that having a home based business is a very affordable solution to many. Google does not rule!
This was a very harsh awakening for my overall marketing strategy and I am very grateful that I did not have all of my marketing in one basket!
